Brilliantly Glowing Shades

Amazing to think that we are looking back on another full year of creating lit centerpieces and decor for special events. Many of the jobs we worked on featured beautiful graphics that once lit up, were dazzling in darkened ballrooms.

One of our favorites was produced for AE Events for the Solomon Schecter Day School Gala. The use of the colorful backgrounds complimented the linens and room decor perfectly to create a stunning centerpiece.

The Best of Our Recent Custom Illuminated Decor

As 2017 comes to a close, we're looking back on some highlights from the recent months.

For the fourth year in a row, we provided centerpieces and columns for The Norman B. Leventhal Awards. This year, we illuminated the Boston skyline across a series of square columns trios.

In October, we provided colorful votive covers for Big Brothers Big Sisters' Building Big Awards.

We always enjoy providing illuminated decor for the Annual ICIC awards in Boston. As always, the elegant graphics were designed by Carol Maglitta of One Visual Mind.  The round votive covers were combined with a coordinated "mat" and featured a cool plexiglass "blimp" with additional graphics.

Last month, we provided round closed top centerpieces for IAVA's Heroes Gala at Cipriani in New York City. The IAVA Heroes Gala is an annual celebration honoring veterans of the Iran and Afghanistan wars. For more highlights from the event the recap of the event.

Also in November, we designed and created illuminated votive trios for the Boston Bruins Team Event held at TD Garden. This year's theme was the NHL's 100th anniversary and honored the team's season ticket holders.

For the Clinical and Research Excellence Awards, held at the State Room in Boston, we provided custom wineglass shades. The team at Informa added the cute little stem lights. 

Trios of branded square open top shades were created to fit plexiglass boxes for Alexandria Real Estate Equities. The New York event highlighted ARE's various properties across the U.S.

We are so grateful to have been a part of so many wonderful events this year. Looking forward to all to come in 2018. 

Illuminated Photo Centerpieces for the Food Bank of NYC

We were honored to provide photo cube centerpieces for the  star-studded "Can Do" gala at Cipriani Wall Street.

Featuring wonderful photos provided by the Food bank, the centerpieces helped bring attention to the problem of hunger and poverty that often goes unseen in New York.

This fundraising event is instrumental in helping provide support for the millions of New Yorkers who rely on Food Bank.

Photo Shades for New York twins' mitzvah

The large photo shades created bold focal points at each table.  The professional photographs looked wonderful when illuminated!

Also included in the decor were illuminated custom wineglass shades where one of the evening's logos was featured.

Viewed from the second floor balcony, the festive decor set the tone for a most enjoyable celebration at the historic Edison Ballroom in NYC.

Graduation Cap Centerpieces

When is a graduation cap not a cap?  When it's a donation box! Excel Academy in Boston is putting our custom Graduation Caps on the tables to raise funds for their charter school.  What a great idea!

Our illuminated centerpieces double as donation boxes 

and are a nice way to ask for gifts from your guests!

Illuminaria designed custom centerpieces for Friendship Works' 30th anniversary gala held in the Ballroom at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. The warm colors and photos added brilliant highlights to the beautiful surroundings.

ILLUMINARIA BRIGHTENS GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER AGAIN

We are pleased to have illuminated Good Shepherd Services' Annual Benefit Dinner for the second year with custom made centerpieces that highlight the organization's mission and work. Gotham Hall's large space was brightly glowing with our trios of open-topped centerpieces.

Pearl Centerpieces

Pearls illuminate and make a striking presentation for dinner centerpieces! Suspended in tall vases, pearls add another dimension to any party.

Vases were topped with custom design drum shades. 

Additional table top decor included pearl-adorned napkin rings and custom wineglass shades.

Photo art for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs

We found this great action for Photoshop that jazzes up photos to turn them into hip and energetic art. We thought it would be a great treatment for event decor. Blown up and hung around the room, this styled art would be a cool way to set an energetic tone.

We played with a pic of our dog too!

Custom Lampshades to fit an elegant base

For a recent sophisticated Bar Mitzvah designed by Table Sensations we were asked to design a custom lampshade to fit elegant lamp bases that served as centerpieces.
Sourced online to accent the event decor, the lamps were  adapted with a taller harp and the electric cords cut. To raise them up a little they were placed on upturned glass vases.
The shades were in fact 2 tiered with the rectangles cut out to expose the second blue shade below. The battery-operated lights were installed in the top of the inner shade and were turned on remotely.

It was a challenging and creative project for us and we enjoyed figuring out how to adapt commercial lamp bases to our custom shades.

Illuminated Decor for The Steppingstone Foundation's Spring Fling

This colorful fundraiser  "EAT LEARN DANCE"  was produced to raise awareness and funds for The Steppingstone Foundation in its efforts to prepare underserved students for college success.
Designed by Liz Marson of Liz Marson Events , the evening was
staged in three parts.
To begin the evening, guests were met by a living red carpet that welcomed them to the "Learn" part of the evening. With the help of graphic designers at Instant Sign Center, Liz designed elegant informational banners highlighting the purposes and goals of the foundation. We built complimentary lit column centerpieces that featured some of the major points as well as the three dimensional LEARN lettering.

After enjoying the informational part of the evening, guests were invited into a large tent to EAT and DANCE.
Using the invitation artwork as a springboard, we designed wineglass shades, food and bar signs as well as a large drum shade with fringe trim that was hung in the entrance way to the tent.

From all reports, the event was a smashing success. We loved working with the colorful graphics and were happy to be able to help bring visibility to the Steppingstone Foundation's efforts in the Boston Area.

Photo Cube Centerpieces

We recently found this photo from an event long past, but we were reminded how great these photo cubes are.
At only 4" x 4" square, they pack a great visual punch to personalize a table top beautifully.

Colorful Centerpieces for JDRF Gala "Writing the Recipe for the Cure"

We very much enjoyed the design process to produce these illuminated centerpieces.  Working with art specifically created for the JDRF fundraising Gala by artist David Russo, our goal was to marry his art to a base that would hold shades that featured both his whimsical art and the important messaging for JDRF.

 We look forward to seeing photos taken by the professional photographers who attended the event, but for now these give an idea of the colorful decor in the room.

Centerpieces in production for JDRF Gala this weekend

Working in the studio on a beautiful Spring day. So happy to be working on such a colorful job and for such a worthy cause.
Here's hoping the event will be a huge success. We will follow up with pics from the event with the centerpieces lit up and surrounded by matching decor.

Illuminated Mitzvah Centerpieces for Twins at the Aquarium in Boston

Recently we created illuminated shades that sat atop ice sculpture bases for a Bat Mitzvah at the Aquarium in Boston. The twins, Rose and Sam, had chosen penguins as their motif, and the dancing duos were seen on the lamps, votive covers and other decor throughout the room. The top of the shades featured a cut out penguin holding the table numbers -  a fun way to steer guests to the correct table!
The ice sculptures were a novel way to hold the shades and glistened beautifully below the shades. The bases were created by Don at Brilliant Ice Sculptures, and lasted perfectly for the entire evening.

Illuminated Centerpiece with Custom Cut Detail

These lit centerpieces for an ICIC event in Boston featured a custom cut trianguler shape as well as an insert of a double sided "blimp" that floated above (with a little help from a wire stand!)

The cool graphics created by Carol Maglitta at one[visual]mind were used throughout the room on the video screens, on banners and even incorporated into the lighting decor.
The event was produced by Michael P. Wasserman, Inc.
